Roger Siggs is a freelance Information Consultant and Martial Arts instructor in the Denver, Colorado area. After working in traditional environments for a number of years, Roger has embarked upon his own path- bringing over two decades of martial arts training, research and reconstruction, and 15 years of Information Technology experience to provide his clients with the best possible outcome for their needs. He is a highly certified IT professional, specializing in Windows Infrastructure design challenges, and the innovative use of technology for education and workplace efficiency.
Born and raised as a Navy brat, Roger finally settled down in the Denver area after 11 years in Phoenix, Arizona. He lives with his family- his wife Sasha, and their two children. Having spent over two decades learning and practicing martial arts, Roger has spent the bulk of his recent years researching and rebuilding the Western Martial Arts- preserving and recreating the heritage martial traditions of Europe. As a former member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Roger achieved the highest award for martial prowess in historical combat- the White Scarf - in the organisation, and competed in well over 300 tournaments during his tenure. Outside of the SCA, Roger was a founding member of the Tattershall School of Defence, an early prominent WMA academy, and he has since become the head instructor and Dean of the Rocky Mountain Swordplay Guild, where he teaches regular classes as well as seminars across the United States.
Roger is a regular attendee and instructor at the Western Martial Arts Workshop. This year, Roger will be giving classes on the importance of cutting mechanics for swordplay, and taking Fiore’s abrazare and dagger into the modern world.
